1. What does “non-hazardous pickup” mean?

 

Non-hazardous pickup means that we collect and transport items that do not contain harmful chemicals or dangerous materials, such as:
 

• Furniture

• Appliances (without refrigerants)

• Electronics

• Scrap metal

• Cardboard, wood, or plastic waste

Hazardous items (such as paint, chemicals, batteries, or asbestos) require special handling and are not included in our standard salvage services.

2. What specific kinds of items can be salvaged or picked up?

Some common salvageable items include:
 

• Office and household furniture

• Non-refrigerated appliances (washers, dryers, ovens)

• Electronics (TVs, computers, cables)

• Metal items, fixtures, piping

• Construction debris (wood, drywall, non-treated materials)

3. Do I need to sort my items before pickup?

 

Yes, we would appreciate it if you separated items by type (metal, wood, electronics), but it's not required by Waste Solutions, Inc. Our experienced team will sort as needed during pickup to ensure proper recycling or disposal of your items.

4. Is there a cost for non-hazardous pickup services in the greater Memphis TN area?

 

Yes, our fees will depend on the following:
Volume of materials

• Weight and labor required

• Location (residential, commercial, rural)

6. What happens to the materials after pickup?

 

We aim to divert as much as possible from the landfill. Items we pick up are:

• Sorted for recycling (metal, wood, plastic, e-waste, cardboard)

• Donated if reusable (furniture, electronics)

• Disposed responsibly at licensed facilities

 

7. Can businesses and property managers use your service?

 

Oh Yes! We often work with:

• Commercial properties

• Construction & demolition sites

• Apartment complexes

• Retail & warehouse cleanouts

 

For ongoing pickup needs, we offer convenient recurring service options.

 

8. What items are not accepted for pickup by Waste Solutions?

 

We do not accept:

• Paints, solvents, or chemical containers

• Oil, fuel, or other flammable liquids

• Refrigerators or AC units with Freon (unless pre-drained)

• Batteries or medical waste (see here for our medical waste division)

• Pressurized tanks (propane, oxygen)
